I’m a little tired of this site. Apparently the “VOTE rate new hotties” button is just there because the “HOME” and “UPLOAD” buttons were lonely. I, along with the vast majority of people who voted, gave this photo a definite thumbs down several days ago, but it still managed to show up on the site.

So I guess the question behind my pointless internet rant is this: why even give us the option to vote on hotties at all since our votes are meaningless when it comes to deciding what makes it on to the front page?

I know right? And there are so many pics that have several THOUSAND positive votes that never make the page like that one Morrigan cosplay. It’s annoying.

The scary part is, I guarantee you that there’s someone out there whom this DOES work for.

Also, I’m surprised to see none of the usual comments shouting that this looks Photoshopped.

I would think that the Vote option is a guage of reader opinions. Ultimately, it’s the site moderators who put it up or not irrespective of reader opinion.

The Vote page also gives the site more content. However, with more content comes crap photos. The front page is what the moderators think are best for the site.

As for why this particular photo made it? Take a look at the title “WTF Friday.” I read that as “The WTF of the WTF”. Poor quality photos are one thing, but this photo just screams WTF! and makes you want to clean your eyeballs out with a spoon.

I like the site just the way it is. I’ve given up on thinking that any site gives a rats ass what we think. That is a liberating and stress reducing realization.

The point of WTF Fridays is to take the disgusting/weird/insane ones and post them. It’s the one day that the images aren’t picked by votes. Look at any picture up here without “WTF Fridays” in it’s title, and it has more positive votes than negative. As for the ones in voting with hundreds of votes, they’ve been in there for months. New ones get added, and those are the ones that are looked at first by the site owners. Go to any Cheezburger site, and if you go back in the voting about 10 or so pages, all of them start to have hundreds of votes. They’re just too far back for the site owers to bother with, when they have new stuff coming in everyday. If it doesn’t get a bunch of positive votes in the first week or so, it’s not going up…

This is actually somewhat normal when you consider some of the other parts of this movie.

Point 1: Yes, and that will be the downfall of the site.

Point 2: No, actually the ‘Upload’ page gives the site more content. The whole ‘Vote’ area is pretty pointless, it’s like a possible preview of what’ll come, but you have no ability to make comments.
