Not entirely true, for example in 2011 it will run until the 3rd of october, but the dates currently published for 2012 go from 22nd September – 7th October.
But yes the point about it being in late September rather than October is correct…

Ah, Oktoberfest, when drunk Americans throw beer on each other in the Hofbräuhaus. Personally, I prefer getting plastered while singing together over at Spatenbräu – much more gemütlich and, IMHO, better beer, too. BTW, loooong before the end of Oktoberfest, the waitresses have had it with drunken louts, so be nice to them, huh?

I can’t say how the waitresses are in Munich at the Wiesn (i already been there, but didn’t get in one of the tents), but as i am living in Stuttgart, i’ve been with some friends at the Wasen (Oktoberfest of Stuttgart) and i didn’t like the waitresses there…their outfit would be fitting a girl with a weight of about 60-70kg…and the waitresses are way over that weight, so it doesn’t look very nice…and some of them are acting like it’s the worst day of their life. Kinda hard to be nice to those :/

The Oktoberfest takes place for 16 days, two weeks plus a weekend (Sat – Sun). Rule of thumb: The last weekend that’s competely in October is the last Oktoberfest weekend. Exception of the rule: If the Day of German Unity (October 3rd) is after the Oktoberfest’s end, the Oktoberfest may be extended to include this day. See you at the Wiesn!
