Illegal Act of the Day: Last week, Florida lawmakers unanimously passed Senate Bill 344, intended to outlaw bestiality, but, by failing to commit the correct legalese to paper, the state legislature may have inadvertently banned sex for everyone.
One local blog has pointed out how SB344 fails to define the illegal activity:
An act relating to sexual activities involving animals; creating s. 828.126, F.S.; providing definitions; prohibiting knowing sexual conduct or sexual contact with an animal; prohibiting specified related activities; providing penalties; providing that the act does not apply to certain husbandry, conformation judging, and veterinary practices; providing an effective date.
So while a ban on acts “relating to sexual activities involving animals” should still come across as good news for goats and chickens across the state, fingers crossed this bill isn’t enforced among humans.
That’s no way to increase the state’s tourism revenue.
