Porn Police of the Day: Thanks to the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, your SFW work monitors might make the day job just that much lamer.
Breaking through with signal-processing techniques that can identify a massive amount of audio clips, electrical engineers MyungJong Kim and Hoirin Kim now have created a sound analysis system that can detect a sexual moan or growl within online media — before it hits your Web browser.
Previously, Internet monitoring systems that keep the smut out would have difficulty discerning a full frontal shot from, say, a skimpy bikini pic. Compounded with the Kims’ technology, however, workplaces should be able to nail down the nailing clips with ease.
The engineers are demonstrating their Radon Transform-based system at the International Workshop on Content-Based Multimedia Indexing in Madrid, Spain, next month.
